Super Girl and the New Year

I decided to change this blog title for the upcoming year. Since I am no longer trying to do a drawing a day, it doesn't really make sense to keep that as the title. Instead I will just use this as an area to post less-finished work, and keep my main blog more as a place for more-finished pieces that might go in my portfolio, for instance.

Even though it is not 2013 yet, I needed to try out my new drawing tablet (Graphire 3...yes I'm behind the times) with a new sketch! This one is dedicated to my friend Ray Wu.

INKtober #3

Today I tried to avoid my typical "sketchy" approach to pen and ink, which is what I usually fall back to when I don't know how to render something.

INKtober #1

It's INKtober, and my friend Joel and I are participating! If you don't know what INKtober is, read all about it here. Also check out Jake Parker's work, cause it's awesome.

I think I am going to use these drawings to concentrate on concept art for a project my brother and I are working on. So...without further delay, here is drawing #1:

On Stormy Seas

My good friend Pete Molinero invited me to join him and his brothers the other night in one of their famous "drawing times". I had not been a part of one since I was in college, and I figured it was high time I got back to posting some things on the ol' drawing blog, so I gratefully accepted his offer. Five topics went into the a hat, and the one chosen was "On Stormy Seas". This was my effort.

Train People

Hands are boring. People utilizing their hands are interesting.

So there's this blog...

No updates the past month. I ended up working on other things while on vacation that took up all my drawing time. Then I came home and started a new job...which allows me to pay the bills, but so far hasn't left as much room for leisurely creative time. My goal is to return to at least a few color sketches a week in the near future.

In the meantime, my good friend Joel Bullis and I are starting a series of themed, week-long drawing practice sessions. The first one is on hands, so next week I expect to be posting a huge dump here!
